Ephrata-- Fire District 13 has entered into an agreement with Grant County Fire Districts 10 and 11 to share in the services of a part time mechanic.  This is a position the department felt was very necessary to move forward for the future as well as maintain the apparatus of our district.  The new mechanics position will ensure preventative maintenance will be completed and recorded and that our fleet of apparatus continues to improve so that our services may as well.

To fill the position as cost effective as possible Dist. 13 has contracted with Districts 10 and 11 to share the mechanic.  The salary and benefits are being split evenly per use of the mechanic.  Thus this cooperative effort has increased reliability for many citizens of Grant County.  The mechanic spends two weeks a month at Dist. 10, and one week a month at Districts 11 and 13. 

To find a certified applicant mutually agreed upon credentials were drafted.  The position was advertised and through interviews and testing all three Districts agreed and hired District 13's own Russ Hersh.  Russ is an ASE certified Diesel Mechanic and has many years of experience in the fire service.  Russ has been with District 13 since July of 1997.  Russ is very excited to being working for all three districts and looks forward to bringing reliability and innovative mechanic operations to the respective apparatus.
